ADEA provides meaningful opportunities for members to contribute to the oral health education community and the oral health workforce. The options for committee membership are varied. Whether you are a student, resident, emerging leader or a seasoned professional, there is a position for you.
You are encouraged to apply for appointment to an ADEA Board of Directors Advisory Committee, an ADEA Advisory Group, or an external committee which is managed by an ADEA partner, the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

General Information
- All ADEA advisory groups and advisory committees must follow all guidelines outlined in the ADEA Bylaws.
- To apply for an ADEA position, you must log in to your ADEA member account to access the application.
- You can work on your application, save it and return to complete and submit it.
- Most committee appointments require a Letter of Support from your dental school’s dean or the program director of your allied dental program. Make your request for the letter as soon as possible; this step often takes the most time. Note: Associate & assistant deans must also meet this requirement.
ADEA appoints members to the following external dental standards agencies:
ADA
- Council on Dental Education and Licensure (CDEL)
- Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE)
CODA
- CODA Commissioner
- CODA Site Visitor
To apply for a position with a CODA managed committee, you must enter your ADA member number along with your ADEA member ID number.
Submission and Selection Process
The Application Submission Period opens on Aug. 13, 2026, and closes on October 30, 2026.
Selected applicants will receive written notification:
- Applicants for appointments not requiring ADEA House of Delegates (HOD) approval will be notified in February 2027.
- Applicants for appointments and nominations to external committees will be voted on at the HOD Closing Session of the 2027 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in March 2027.
The ADEA point of contact for each committee will be copied on all notification letters.
